Sparrow was gelded June 2007 and is no longer for sale. He is going to be kept by the Petersen family as a Pony Club, eventing, foxhunting and driving pony.

Sparrow combines award-winning Irish, English, European and North American bloodlines with fantastic athleticism and a charming temperament. His sire (see below) is still standing in Ontario by live cover and cooled shipped semen; see their website at www.elphinfarms.com.

Sparrow has fluid and elastic movement, powerful hindquarters and innate natural balance, making him a great dressage and eventing pony.

 

Sparrow is kind, willing, quick to learn, easy to train and has a great pony sense of humour - all trademark Connemara traits. He brings the best of international Connemara breeding to Michigan.

  • Sparrow's sire Maplehurst Michael MacDaire won the 2004 American Connemara Pony Society An Tostal Award given to a performance stallion used to promote the breed; as well as numerous Horse Trials; dressage, jumper and line classes in Canada.
  • His paternal grand-sire Gilnocky Ard-Righ MacDaire won the 1984 ACPS An Tostal and competed to Prix St. Georges level in dressage in the US and Canada
  • *Abbeyleix Bluebird, Sparrow's paternal grandam, won on the line at both the prestigious Clifton and Royal Dublin Horse Society shows in Ireland. She also won the 2000 ACPS Broodmare Award for her outstanding progeny including Dale Haze, three-time Champion Connemara Stallion in Sweden and sire of Hazy Dawn, Champion Connemara Stallion in Denmark.

  • Sparrow's dam, the English imported mare *Scottsway Lullaby is a broodmare extraordinaire who excels at producing classic, typey ponies. The first 5 generations her pedigree contain 3 of the only 15 Super Premium Stallions in the UK.
  • His maternal grand-sire Kirtling Tam O'Shanter is a Premium Stallion under the English awards scheme and his sire, Kirtling Brigadoon, is a Super Premium Stallion.
